What is Coaching and is it Effective? +

According to Harvard Business Review, “The goal of coaching is to make the most of an organization’s valuable resources.” ¹

Consider this: Of 100 Fortune 1000 executives who received coaching the following improvements were reported: ²

  • Working relationships with direct reports (77%), immediate supervisors (71%), peers (63%) and clients (37%)

  • Teamwork (67%)

  • Retention of executives being coached (32%)

  • Job satisfaction (61%)

  • Productivity (53%)

  • Cost reductions (23 percent)

  • Profitability (22%)

2 - McGovern J, LIndemann M, Vergara M, Murphy S, Barker L and Warrenfeltz R. Maximizing the impact of executive coaching: Behavioral change, organizational outcomes, and return on investment. The Manchester Review, 6, 1, 2001

While the short-term impact of coaching includes higher levels of goal attainment, improved mental health (decreased levels of anxiety, stress and depression), improved decision making and enhanced communication skills, the longer-term impact includes cost savings, profitability and productivity. This does not occur by happenstance; it can be cultivated ByDesign.

Who is the Right Candidate for Coaching? +

Anyone who genuinely wants to learn, grow, and become “best of class” can benefit from coaching. Just as an Olympic-bound athlete depends on an experienced coach to set incremental performance goals, monitor progress, track opportunities, and provide consistent feedback, those seeking greater impact in work and in life can reap rich rewards from coaching.

How to Choose the Best Coach +

Effective coaching is a true partnership between coach and client. The most important considerations are whether you trust the coach and feel they can help you achieve your goals. To that end, questions to consider:

Do you feel comfortable talking to them?

Do you like their approach and style?

Do they appear to be interested, invested and committed to you?

Do they have the background, business experience and credentials to do the job effectively?

Have they used a coach themselves and benefited? If so, how?

How will they measure and assess your success and report this back to you?

Are they able and willing to work around your needs and schedule?

Have they clarified and defined their coaching process, protocols, or standards? Do these make sense to you?

Will they provide you with a written agreement covering confidentiality as well as terms and scope of work?

How much do they charge and are their fees and billing standards in line with industry norms?

How Does ByDesign Coaching Work? +

We begin with an intake form in the complimentary consultation that allows us to identify exactly how coaching can be used to help you achieve your goals and overcome obstacles. Based on information revealed in that initial consultation, we identify gaps that exist and work with you to develop a reasonable action plan and strategy to support the accomplishment of specific goals/milestones during the coaching engagement. Weekly accountability tracking and assignments between sessions help ensure that deep learning occurs, and goals can be attained. I even provide clients with helpful resources between sessions as well. By the end of the coaching engagement, both coach and client have data on progress and a framework for ensuring that deep change is sustainable.

“Laura’s faith and support is amazing. Thank you for the continued encouragement, guidance and direction that helped us move forward and change our culture.”

Coaching Packages

Every coaching engagement begins with a complimentary, no-obligation one-hour consultation for each individual and/or each person on the team to be coached. This allows the prospective client(s) and coach to learn about one another, discuss strengths, goals and challenges, and determine whether an engagement agreement can help enhance engagement, performance, values, and impact. Coaching agreements are tailored to meet the specific needs and considerations of each client and can typically be managed within the time frames identified below. Additional sessions can be accommodated as necessary.

Complimentary, No-Obligation Consultation for Coaching and Training is the standard (not to exceed one hour per person). ByDesign Training & Coaching offers no-hassles money-back guarantee for anyone not fully satisfied with services after first two paid coaching sessions.
